Antonio Medina, LMFT-S

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me and my philosophies. They have been a lifetime in the making.

My passion for this wonderful field of psychology began at a very young age. In fact, it started even before I knew there was a word for it. As a teen and a young adult, I made some enormous mistakes, all of which I regret. Somehow through my Catholic upbringing, I knew there was a chance to start over and I did. Because of this, I learned that change IS always possible.

In addition to this, I believe the mind is the most powerful tool in the world. It has the the power to keep you from living your life or propel you into a life where your dreams can become your reality. All you need to do is harness the power and believe you deserve a better life.

My Role as Your Therapist

As your therapist, I function as a coach, a teacher, and a friend. What this means is that I operate from different places at different times. I'm interactive and directive. Therapy is fluid and I choose to remain that way. There will be times where I will walk behind you, beside you and other times I will lead you but I will always support you and your highest good.

In the Beginning

When we are born. We are born perfect. All we know is Love. As we start our life, our world and our experiences begin to teach us.  No one is born with low self-esteem, or anxious about success or even prejudice. We learn that. Our experiences teach us and mold us.

How we Change?

The way we change is by changing ourselves from the Inside Out. Your beliefs have everything to do with your world. Your attitude about you and your experiences ARE the reason why things stay the same. Think of it like this: If you believe in God, then you do things that confirm your belief in him like pray. Now just imagine how much damage you're doing to yourself if you maintain beliefs like, "Real love doesn't exist."‚Äč

Treatment Philosophy and Process

When you come in for therapy with Antonio, don't expect to just talk about the problem. What you can expect is to explore the root of the problem, expand on your beliefs and be willing to challenge yourself to think outside of the box.

Antonio approaches your problem(s) intuitively, holistically, all the while integrating traditional psychotherapy. In addition to this, Music therapy and Aromatherapy is incorporated in all sessions to help you relax your mind and body. These strategies and approaches reaffirm Antonio's whole body and mind approach to healing and make him one of DFW's most dynamic therapists!
